About me (under construction)

My name is Mario Zara, I was born and still live in Verona, Italy.

After graduating in physics in 1995 (see picture), I started to work as a computer programmer in different areas, from computer graphics to traditional software for business companies.

This site, however, is mainly about what I do in my free time.

I'm a hobbist painter, after using traditional media for some years, I decided to try digital painting and modeling.
Why?
As far as I'm concerned, digital imaging has some big pro's:
  1. traditional media require a constant effort to master any technique, and good external conditions (light, time, etc.). Digital media, on the contrary, make life simpler and easier (undo, levels, no "strange" behaviour of colors, paper, etc). So, they are much more advisable for people with little time and a "difficult" life;
  2. with digital media, a small team (even a single person) can produce complex works, such as short animated movies;
  3. last but not least, digital imaging has some new and unique features (3D graphics being the most obvious one).
